
Polan John being inducted as the president of Chümoukedima
district Bharat Scouts and Guides on May 20.
- DIMAPUR — The
deputy commissioner (DC) of Chümoukedima, Polan John, was inducted as the
district president of Bharat Scouts and Guides (BS&G) during a consultative
meeting with the officials from the state headquarters held in his office on
May 20.
- A DIPR report stated that the visit of officials from the
state headquarters was a part of their ongoing efforts to engage with district
officials and to promote the values of scouting and guiding across the state.
- In his address, the DC thanked the team for their visit and
termed as a significant step for the Bharat Scouts and Guides movement in
Chümoukedima district. He also expressed gratitude for their guidance and
direction as well as for creating awareness on Bharat Scouts & Guides
movement.

- The DC was of the opinion that young people could learn lots
of things, develop their potential, learn valuable life skills and contribute
to their communities as well through the movement. He expressed hoped that the
consultative meeting with the district would nurture responsible, capable and
self-oriented youth in the state.
- As district president of Bharat Scouts and Guides, John
conveyed his full support towards the movement and looked forward for a
collective effort from all in the days ahead.
- During the consultative meeting, Kiyakhrienuo Solo
highlighted that Bharat Scouts and Guides-SOC (G) emphasises on character
development, leadership skills and service to others. She stated that it aims
to help young people become responsible citizens and contribute to building a
better world.
- She added that BSG is based on principles of duty to God,
duty to others and duty to self and uses a system of progressive self-education
through the ‘Scout Promise and Law.’
- In a related programme, the BS&G officials from the
state headquarters held a consultative meeting with the Dimapur district
BS&G Association at the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office
on Wednesday.
- Speaking at the meeting, the DC and president of Dimapur
district BS&G Association, Dr. Tinojonghshi, acknowledged the efforts of
the school heads of the department for their constant support in different
fields, activities and programmes. He has urged the educational institutions
which have BS&G units to take opportunity in assisting the students in
fostering leadership, discipline and values among the students.
- He has further assured support, assistance and guidance
whenever required.
- Also speaking at the meeting, John Tochimong, SOC (Scout),
requested all the heads of the institution to depute Scout and Guide masters
for higher training to upgrade themselves and give back quality skills to the
young people. He also requested those institutions to reach out to those
schools which don't have BS&G units.
