DIMAPUR — In a proactive move to promote traffic awareness and responsible driving, SP Phek Dr. Pritpal Kaur led a cycling rally to mark the ongoing Road Safety Month.
The initiative, involving police officers, aims to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the public while promoting life-saving transit rules, an update stated.
The rally commenced from Phek town, with participants pedalling approximately 8 km to Phek village. Upon arrival, the team engaged in an interactive session with Phek Village Council members and local school students. Following the community outreach, the cyclists returned to the town, concluding the event at the SP Office.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Pritpal Kaur emphasised the critical pillars of road safety. She spoke extensively on the mandatory use of helmets, the dangers of mobile phone usage and distracted driving, and strict "no drink and drive" policy.

Furthermore, she educated the attendees on the legal provisions of the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act and highlighted the "Good Samaritan Law," which protects citizens who assist victims of road accidents.
Supporting the police initiative, the Village Council Chairman (VCC) of Phek village issued a strong appeal to the local youth, urging the younger generation to strictly adhere to traffic rules and regulations to ensure their safety and the safety of others on the road.
Earlier, the programme began with an invocation by Pastor Veruyoyi Khesoh of the Phek Police Baptist Church.
