DIMAPUR — Civil society organisations, including the Naga Council Dimapur (NCD), Western Sümi Hoho (WSH) and Chakhro Angami Kuda Youth Organisation (CAKYO), have condemned the alleged firing and abduction incident at Aoyimkum village, Dimapur, on December 15.
In a press release, the NCD stated that firing a gun in a peaceful residential area with the intention of creating fear and threat is tantamount to terrorism, and extended unequivocal support to the Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) in its demand for justice.
The council appealed to all Naga armed groups to refrain from violence, intimidation, and other forms of creating fear among innocent civilians, and to avoid keeping them under control through such means, as part of any planned strategy.

“At this hour of law and order instability, NCD calls upon the state government, law enforcement agencies and police personnel to contain the activities of miscreants so that lives and properties of citizens are protected, and that peace and harmony prevail in Dimapur,” it stated.
In a separate statement, the WSH expressed serious concern over the recent incident where six youths were apprehended by a faction on allegations of running a fake call centre.
“While unlawful activities, if any, must not be condoned, the hoho strongly maintains that no group or individual should take the law into their own hands. The matter should be thoroughly investigated by the competent authorities, and those found guilty must be punished strictly as per the law,” the hoho stated.
“Furthermore, the hoho emphasises that the issue should be resolved with understanding, dialogue, and reconciliation among our brothers, upholding the spirit of harmony and mutual respect that binds our society together.”
The CAKYO, in a condemnation note, termed the “criminal intrusion” into a private residence by armed individuals, firing rounds, injuring civilians and abducting persons at gunpoint, as an appalling and inexcusable act.
“Let our shared values guide us; courage rooted in morality, freedom anchored in responsibility and peace protected by justice,” it added.
