
Dharam Singh with the seized suspected opium in Sechu Zubza
on Friday.
- DIMAPUR — Troops
of 78 battalion CRPF and personnel of Sechu Zubza Police Station recovered
14.312 kg of suspected opium on Friday during frisking and checking on NH-29 at
Peducha old police gate from a Tata Winger bearing registration No. MN-06B-1350.
- An update from 78 battalion CRPF stated that vehicle was
coming from Senapati towards Dimapur. It stated that the owner of the suspected
opium, Dharam Singh, resident of Ludhiana in Punjab, boarded the Tata Winger
from Senapati in Manipur.

- It stated that when the vehicle was stopped for checking and
passengers were asked to open their luggage, Dharam Singh sought permission for
urine and ran towards the hills. It added that the jawans apprehended him after
chasing him about 500 meters.
- Report stated that two suspected opium packets wrapped in
black polythene, two Khaini containers filled with suspected opium, one small
packet in black polythene of suspected opium and cash amounting to INR 56,500
were found from his black-coloured Safari trolley and olive-green bag.
- The suspected opium was weighed in presence of magistrate,
Sechu Zubza, on the spot. The total weight was 14.312 kg.
- It further stated that Dharam Singh and the recovered items
were handed over to Zubza Police Station for necessary legal action.
