PMLA court declares NSCN leader Niki Sumi an absconder in ED's money laundering case; hearing on August 8.

DIMAPUR — The Special Judge (PMLA), Imphal East, has issued a proclamation against “Nikki Sumi, self-styled Lt. General of NSCN (K),” declaring him an absconder in a money laundering case being pursued by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Guwahati Zonal Office.
The development came during a hearing on June 30 in connection with a case pertaining to alleged violations under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), being investigated by the ED.
The proclamation followed the testimony of the executing officer, who appeared via video conferencing from the District and Sessions Court, Dimapur.

Based on the executing officer’s testimony, the court was “satisfied that the accused, Niki Sumi, has absconded.” Consequently, the court directed that a proclamation be issued and published in a “newspaper circulating in the local area of the accused, and also by publishing in the court house and police station and other conspicuous place returnable on the next date.”
The court granted one month from the date of publication for the accused to appear before it. The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for August 8.
Besides Nikki Sumi, four other individuals, including his wife, have been named as co-accused in the case.
