DIMAPUR — Preparations for the upcoming Sekrenyi-cum-Mini Hornbill Festival 2026 gathered momentum, following a high-level coordination meeting which was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall, Chümoukedima, on Wednesday.
Chaired by Deputy Commissioner Polan John, the meeting reviewed arrangements for the festival scheduled on February 25 at Sovima Village Council ground, a DIPR report stated.
Officials from multiple departments came together to ensure seamless coordination for the event, which aims to celebrate Naga traditions while promoting local entrepreneurship.
Addressing the meeting, the deputy commissioner underscored the significance of the festival as a platform for cultural expression and economic opportunity, calling for strong inter-departmental cooperation.

The senior tourist officer presented the programme outline and informed that a capacity-building session would also be conducted as part of the celebrations.
The chairman of Sovima Village Council briefed members on ongoing preparations, including traditional games, tents, canopies, and departmental stalls.
Notably, around 11 departments have already confirmed their participation by setting up stalls at the venue.
Participants also stressed the need for wider publicity to boost public turnout and enhance community engagement.
The meeting concluded with an appeal to all concerned departments to work in close coordination to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the festival under the aegis of the Government of Nagaland.
