DIMAPUR — The Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection (LM&CP), Phek, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Phek Government College, organised a consumer awareness programme on the theme "Legal metrology and consumer protection: the journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047" at the college campus on August 19.


The guest speaker of the programme, Mecheitsho Koza, EAC Phek, highlighted the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and emphasised the significance of consumer awareness in building a progressive society.


According to a DIPR report, he encouraged students to become torchbearers in spreading awareness about consumers’ rights.


Sekhotso Rokha, a panel lawyer from the Phek District Legal Services Authority (PDLSA), delivered a session on consumer rights and explained the process of seeking redressal through the district commission.

In his keynote address, Shiekhozo, assistant controller, LM&CP, Phek, underlined the crucial role of Legal Metrology in safeguarding consumer rights and ensuring fairness in trade practices.


The programme began with a welcome note by Dr. Levinu Sakhrie, assistant professor and coordinator of IQAC, and was chaired by Neiwe Mereo, assistant professor and head of the department of Economics.
