DIMAPUR — The Samvedan Leadership Programme, aimed at empowering digital leaders to amplify grassroots issues and uphold constitutional values, was highlighted at a press conference organised by the Nagaland Youth Congress State Committee at Congress Bhavan, Dimapur, on Thursday.
Addressing the media, National Media Panellist of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC), MS Abhijit, said the initiative seeks to create an alternative platform to highlight ground realities that often go unreported due to limitations in traditional media and external pressures.
He clarified that the programme focuses on nurturing digital leaders rather than influencers, individuals who can engage directly with communities and raise local, state, and national concerns. The initiative will involve YouTubers, social media creators, and local media channels committed to public interest reporting.
Abhijit stated that the programme is rooted in promoting truth, resistance, and constitutional values, alleging that voices and opinions, particularly from regions like Nagaland, are often suppressed. He added that the Youth Congress aims to act as a support system for independent media practitioners facing legal and institutional challenges.

The Samvedan Leadership Programme will provide training in content creation, narrative building, and technical skills, along with legal assistance through its lawyers’ network. It will also offer digital amplification, financial support, and wider visibility to participants.
He further informed that the initiative will open avenues for political engagement for individuals committed to public causes, encouraging them to become voices of the people. Interested participants will be invited to register through online forms, after which the team will establish further contact.
Responding to concerns over a possible conflict of interest, Abhijit clarified that the Samvedan Leadership Programme is not a recruitment drive for the Congress party.
He stated that participants are not required to promote Congress ideology or align politically but are encouraged to report the truth and ground realities independently. He asserted that they do not need influencers for the party but digital leaders for democracy.
Abhijit distinguished the initiative from other Congress programmes, such as membership drives or talent hunts, explaining that Samvedan focuses solely on media freedom and supporting independent voices. He added that while participants may later choose to engage politically, it is entirely optional.
He further assured that support from the Youth Congress, such as legal aid, visibility, and digital amplification, would be extended to anyone reporting the truth, regardless of political affiliation, stressing that the initiative aims to strengthen democracy, not serve as a political tool.
