DIMAPUR — The district-level meeting of the District Tuberculosis Forum (DTBF) and the District AIDS Prevention and Control Committee (DAPCC) was held on Friday at the DPDB meeting hall under the chairmanship of the deputy commissioner of Longleng, W Manpai Phom.
An update from the chief medical officer (CMO), Longleng, stated that Dr. Temsusashi, DTO, chaired the programme and briefly outlined the objectives and aims of the District TB Forum and the DAPCC. He highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts and community participation in strengthening TB and AIDS control initiatives in the district.
He also highlighted the various government initiatives available for TB patients including free diagnosis and treatment, nutritional support and honorarium for treatment supporters.

Tongang, STS, spoke on the intensive 100 days TB Mukt Bharat, which is still ongoing at the village level, focusing on those asymptomatic cases, while Lita, DIS, delivered the present scenario of AIDS in Longleng district.
Kabit, State M&E officer of SSHAKTI, also shared on Mission AIDS Suraksha, which is an intensified public health initiative by the government of India launched to attain HIV/AIDS epidemic control and make all district “Surakshit plus.” Informing that India aims to achieve HIV control by December 2027, he said the mission aligns with global sustainable development goals and relies on grassroots execution through following strategic targets 95-95-99.
He added that accelerated micro planning is being implemented in 15 districts in Nagaland to improve testing, treatment linkage and adherence.

Addressing the members, the deputy commissioner has appreciated the works undertaken by the Longleng division of Health and Family Welfare Department. He said that the objective of the meeting was to discuss in detail the steps, procedures and measures to be taken towards eliminating tuberculosis and control HIV/AIDS within the district.
He emphasised the importance of awareness and the stigma that is associated with TB and HIV and called upon the line departments and sectors to coordinate with the health department. He has sought the involvement of NGOs and civil societies towards creating awareness for better detection and prevention.
He further called for continued and consistent functioning and responsibility of the committees for effective results.
The meeting concluded with a call for strengthening coordination among departments and stakeholders and work collectively towards achieving the goals.
EAC of Longleng headquarters, EAC of Sakshi, officials from DRDA, Phom People Council, Phomla Hoichem, Yingli Mission Society and District Health Society attended the meeting.
