DIC Dimapur and NPCB organised an NCAP awareness programme, urging industries to adopt sustainable practices, comply with environmental regulations and strengthen pollution-control measures.
DIMAPUR — A special awareness and sensitisation programme for industrial units under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) was organised by the District Industries Centre (DIC), Dimapur, in association with the Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB), at the conference hall of Hotel Saramati, Dimapur, on Monday.
Delivering the keynote address, N Abeno Lotha, Functional Manager, DIC, Dimapur, highlighted the importance of balancing industrial development with environmental protection, a DIPR report stated.
She emphasised that industries have an important role in maintaining clean air and urged industrial operators to adopt environmentally sustainable practices, comply with prescribed regulations and work in close coordination with the concerned departments.
Speaking on “Ambient air quality and its impact”, Yanathung Kithan, Scientist-B, NPCB, explained the meaning and importance of ambient air quality and outlined the major sources of air pollution.

He highlighted the harmful effects of particulate matter and other pollutants on human health and the environment.
Kithan stressed that maintaining good air quality requires collective responsibility and active participation from industries, government agencies and the public.
During the technical session on “Environmental compliance of industries”, Aghali A Swu, Senior Environmental Engineer, NPCB, explained the major environmental requirements applicable to industries.
She also highlighted the need for adequate pollution-control measures, regular monitoring, proper maintenance of pollution-control equipment and effective waste management.
The programme was chaired by Lucy Ngouri, Functional Manager, DIC, Dimapur, and was attended by representatives of industrial units and other stakeholders.
