Deputy CM Yanthungo Patton states Class 8 is the minimum qualification for Nagaland Police GD constables, and Class 6 for backward tribes.
KOHIMA — Deputy Chief Minister (Home) Yanthungo Patton informed the state assembly on Sep. 1 that the minimum educational qualification required for the recruitment of Nagaland Police Constables (GD) is a Class 8 pass and Class 6 for candidates belonging to the backward tribe category.
He also informed that the prescribed minimum educational qualification for the recruitment of new police constables varies from state to state.
He was replying to a question by Kuzholuzo Nienu, MLA, who asked whether the current prescribed educational qualification for newly recruited police personnel is sufficient to enable them to be adequately trained and equipped to handle present-day challenges, including cybercrimes and other specialised crimes.
Patton, in a written reply, stated that the newly recruited police constables are provided with the requisite training and undergo various other training programmes to equip them with the necessary skills to carry out the duties assigned to them, including dealing with cybercrimes and other specialised crimes.
