- DIMAPUR — The Chümoukedima Village Youth
Society (CVYS) has announced the immediate closure of the bypass road following
a tragic accident in the early hours of Thursday that claimed the lives of two
students.
- In a press release, the CVYS extended its condolences to the
families of the deceased and wished a swift recovery to those injured.

- In light of the tragedy, the CVYS reiterated its earlier
resolution concerning the bypass road, imposing a strict ban on vehicular
traffic with immediate effect.
- It informed all vehicular movement on the bypass road is
strictly prohibited, except for vehicles engaged in ongoing construction work
and those belonging to local landowners. The bypass road will be opened to the
general public only in the event of a blockage on the main highway.
- The youth body stated that the directive has been issued in
the interest of public safety and called for the cooperation of the general
public. It also warned that any violation of the order would be dealt with
firmly by the CVYS.
- Additionally, the CVYS expressed its gratitude to the
Chümoukedima Traffic Police, the State Disaster Response Team, and local
leaders and youth who provided assistance at the scene of the accident.
