DIMAPUR — In a tragic accident in the early hours of Thursday, a Bolero Invader vehicle veered off the bypass road near View Point in New Chümoukedima village and fell approximately 500 feet down a cliff, resulting in the death of two young students and leaving two others critically injured.
The incident is believed to have occurred around 12:30 am. Authorities were alerted around 6:30 am after the GB of Ward-1, Chümoukedima, informed the police.

According to traffic officials from Chümoukedima, the deceased have been identified as Akamu N. Shohe (25), a sixth-semester student from Zunheboto, and Zayisito Zeliang, also a sixth-semester student from Peren. Both were enrolled at Sakus Mission College, Dimapur.
Their bodies have been transported to their respective hometowns.
The two injured passengers have been identified as Chingong Phom, a sixth-semester student at Sakus Mission College, and Kihomong, an MA student at Unity College, Dimapur. They were rushed to the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR), where Chingong’s condition was reported to be extremely critical.
All four victims were residents of KK Boys Hostel in the Duncan area of Dimapur, officials said.
ASI Angukato K Yeptho, Operation Commander of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), informed that the team received the distress call at 7:21 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered that one of the injured had already been rescued and taken to the hospital by local youths. SDRF personnel were able to retrieve the two deceased and the remaining injured individual from the crash site.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances leading to the accident.
