Nagaland Police continue investigating the Chümoukedima IED blast as NSG analyses samples and NIA approval remains pending
DIMAPUR — Nagaland Police are continuing their investigation into the suspected improvised explosive device (IED) blast at Chümoukedima-A village earlier this month while awaiting a decision from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on the state government's proposal to transfer the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Providing an update on Monday, Director General of Police (DGP) Rupin Sharma said that investigators were pursuing several leads based on human intelligence and other evidence collected during the investigation.
He informed that samples collected from the blast site have been sent to the National Security Guard (NSG) for forensic analysis but declined to disclose further details, citing the sensitive nature of the investigation.

Sharma clarified that although the state government has proposed handing over the case to the NIA, the final decision rests with the MHA. "We have not yet received any official communication regarding the transfer. Until then, Nagaland Police will continue with the investigation," he said.
The DGP also appealed to the public, civil society organisations and community bodies not to take the law into their own hands and urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies during the course of the investigation.
He further called on landlords, tenants, hotel owners and operators of lodging establishments to make use of the police's online registration systems, saying the database would help prevent crime and assist investigations.
