Chümoukedima hosts a workshop on solid waste management to promote sustainable growth and statutory waste rules.

DIMAPUR — A one-day workshop on solid waste management was conducted at the deputy commissioner's conference room in Chümoukedima on June 30.
The objective of the programme was to sensitise and equip all urban stakeholders of Chümoukedima town to act as role models toward achieving sustainable growth and establishing proper waste management systems within the district.
According to a DIPR report, the workshop witnessed the participation of resource persons from the Nagaland Pollution Control Board, the Public Health Engineering department, and the Department of Urban Development.
Councillors of the Chümoukedima Town Council, members of the Chümoukedima Chamber of Commerce, and other stakeholders attended the programme.
Held on the theme "Freedom from Garbage", the workshop highlighted the provisions of the Solid Waste Management Rules 2026, focusing on the segregation, collection, and scientifically sound disposal of waste in alignment with the newly updated statutory framework.
The workshop aimed to sensitise stakeholders of Chümoukedima town to become leaders in promoting sustainable growth through responsible solid waste management practices.
