Two major power infrastructure projects worth INR 240.53 crore are under implementation in Nagaland.
DIMAPUR — Two major power infrastructure projects with a combined approved cost of INR 240.53 crore are currently under implementation in Nagaland to strengthen the state's electricity transmission network, according to Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) data available as of May 31, 2026.
The projects, being implemented by the Department of Power, are funded under the Prime Minister's Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DevINE) and the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme – Other Than Road Infrastructure (NESIDS-OTRI).
The larger of the two projects is the construction of a 220/132 kV (2x100 MVA) and 132/33 kV (2x50 MVA) substation at Tsitrongse, Dimapur, along with associated transmission lines, sanctioned under the PM-DevINE scheme.
Approved at a cost of INR 132.37 crore, the project received administrative approval on February 16, 2024, and is scheduled for completion by September 30, 2026.

As of May 31, 2026, the total financial expenditure on the project stood at INR 99.28 crore, with no expenditure reported during the current financial year (April 1, 2025, to May 31, 2026). The project remains ongoing.
The second project involves the construction of a 220 k/V F/C transmission line from Dimapur to Zadima, funded under the NESIDS-OTRI scheme.
The project was approved on November 17, 2017, with an estimated cost of INR 108.16 crore, and was originally scheduled for completion by December 31, 2024.
Utilisation certificates amounting to INR 97.33 crore have been received. Despite the scheduled completion date having passed, the project continues to be listed as ongoing.
Together, the two projects represent an investment of approximately INR 240.53 crore aimed at improving Nagaland's power transmission infrastructure, enhancing grid reliability, and strengthening electricity supply across the state.
