Olympic Day Run in Kohima saw 162 children from five districts compete in sprint events promoting sports and unity.

KOHIMA — The Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) organised a one-day Olympic Day Run 2025 for children aged 8–12 years on Monday at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, on the theme "Move, Learn, Discover: Together for a Better World".
A total of 162 students (98 boys and 64 girls) from Kohima, Phek, Dimapur, Chümoukedima, and Zunheboto districts participated in the activity.
Kethosituo Sekhose, Director of Youth Resources and Sports, Nagaland, as the special guest of the day, encouraged all the participants and said that with more practice, they could break records.
He also asked the parents to allow the children to be active in such activities. He said that this was an annual event and that, in the coming days, he hoped to see more participants from all the other districts as well.
He mentioned that the state government is bringing many initiatives to promote sports in the state, and so he asked the people to take advantage of the initiatives.

The winners of the 50 metres race in the 8–9 years age group were Sunjai Kumar (first), Sevi Belho (second), Zahvi Wotsa (third), Vecekhu Dzudo (fourth), and Kughato Awomi (fifth) for the boys. For the girls, the winners were Shongmao Shiu (first), Ilivi Sumi (second), Kevisinuo Alena (third), Arenlila Longkumer (fourth), and Achano Tsopoe (fifth).
In the 80 metres race for the 9–10 years age group, the boys’ winners were Choveo Vero (first), Obijit Das (second), Zhoku Sapu (third), Tauhong Haudok (fourth), and Shoshalo Thong (fifth). The girls’ winners in this category were Sophia Gurung (first), Kevizonuo Sakhru (second), Lelu Dzudo (third), Nuonengunuo Rupreo (fourth), and Nounetuonuo Rupreo (fifth).
For the 80 metres race in the 10–11 years age group, the boys who placed were Mughakupu H Yesca (first), Victor Awomi (second), Sengmad Momin (third), Lokivi (third), and Keviyaselie Dzuvichu (fifth). The girls’ winners were Lihike (first), Vikuosanuo Mepfhuo (second), Jongtie (third), Viti Yepthomi (fourth), and Likini (fifth).
In the 100 metres race for the 11–12 years age group, the boys who took the top places were Aneizo Meru (first), Kivika Swu (second), Vivito Vincent Achumi (third), Abhishek Kuwar (fourth), and Akhah Konyak (fifth). The girls’ winners were Livina T Awomi (first), Meguolhounuo Khawakhrie (second), Himlei Haudok (third), Lashila (fourth), and Longkai Lam (fifth).
The winners in all categories received prize money of INR 5,000 for first place, INR 4,000 for second, INR 3,000 for third, INR 2,000 for fourth, and INR 1,000 for fifth place.
