Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio reviews preparations for 24th Dr. T Ao Trophy in Kohima; 17 districts to compete in the football championship from August 1.

DIMAPUR — Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio, on Tuesday met with the organising committee of the 24th Dr. T Ao Trophy-Inter-District Football Championship to review preparations for the tournament, which will be held in Kohima from August 1 to 15.
According to an update, the organising committee was led by convener MLA Kevipodi, co-convener MLA Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso, Deputy Commissioner Kohima Henok Buchem, Nagaland Football Association (NFA) president Neibou Sekhose, and Kohima District Football Association (KDFA) president Mathew Yhome.
During the meeting held at the Chief Minister’s Office, Rio reviewed the preparations for the prestigious championship and expressed his support and best wishes for its successful conduct.

Later, taking to X, Rio shared, “Met and interacted with the @NagalandNFA, Kohima District Football Association, and the organisers of the upcoming 24th Edition of Dr. T Ao Trophy (Inter-District Football Championship). I wish them a successful tournament and extend my best wishes to the players and officials.”
The Dr. T Ao Trophy is being organised by the NFA, hosted by KDFA, and powered by the District Planning and Development Board, Kohima. A total of 17 districts will compete for the prestigious trophy, which will be held at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
Shamator district football team jersey launched
The Shamator District Football Association (SDFA) team’s jersey was formally launched by the chairman of Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board (NBOCWWB), K Yimso Yimchunger, on July 27 at YBBA Guest House, Old Showuba Village, Niuland.
According to a DIPR report, Yimso, in his address on the occasion, encouraged the players to be disciplined, consistent, and to know God first, which he said would take them to a higher level.
The team jersey was dedicated in prayer by Rev. Tochumong, pastor of Showuba Village Baptist Church.
President of SDFA, Shahoto Yimchunger, thanked Yimso for his time and support, and DANYIM Enterprise for the sponsorship of the jersey, as well as Music Planet, A-Sport, and HK Rhetso Tyre MRF Kohima for their support.
The team will be led by the team manager, Tsuyihba, and coach, Visa Angami.
