Chiechama Students’ Union condemns the alleged physical assault of a 10-year-old boy at a private hostel in Chiephobozou and calls for a fair investigation and legal action.
DIMAPUR — The Chiechama Students’ Union (CSU) has condemned the alleged physical assault of a 10-year-old boy, a bona fide member of the union, at a private hostel in Chiephobozou town.
In a statement, the CSU alleged that the boy was assaulted by Mhasikhoto Kulnu, 38, son of late Sagar of Jakhama village, who serves as a warden at the hostel.
The union described the incident as “deeply disturbing and unacceptable,” particularly as the accused was entrusted with the care, supervision and safety of students.
It maintained that no form of discipline could justify physically assaulting or harming a child.

The CSU stated that it stands firmly against all forms of physical abuse, violence and intimidation against students, adding that such acts should neither be taken lightly nor normalised in the name of discipline.
The union urged the concerned authorities to take the matter seriously and conduct a proper, fair and impartial investigation. It also called for all relevant evidence to be examined and for appropriate legal and departmental action to be taken in accordance with the law.
The CSU further appealed to all concerned to ensure the safety and well-being of the minor and prevent any further harm, intimidation or retaliation against the child.
Reiterating its commitment to protecting the safety, dignity and rights of students, the union said the protection and well-being of every child must remain a priority.
