Volunteers from Chessore, along with Lighthouse NECTAR contractors, repaired the storm-damaged Hukir-Chessore road.
DIMAPUR — Volunteers from Chessore came together to repair the monsoon-damaged Hukir-Chessore road to support the timely completion of the Lighthouse NECTAR Project in Chessore town under Shamator district on July 28.
According to a DIPR report, the joint initiative was carried out by the Chessore Town Baptist Church (CTBC), the Chessore Town Public Forum (CTPF), and contractors from the Lighthouse NECTAR project.
Volunteers and workers assembled early in the morning to clear debris, level damaged sections, improve drainage, and carry out temporary patching work along the most affected stretches of the Hukir-Chessore road.
The Lighthouse NECTAR contractors provided financial support, technical guidance, tools, and materials required for the repair work. Meanwhile, the labour was contributed voluntarily by members of the church and the public forum.

To support the volunteers throughout the day, the CTBC sponsored and provided food for all those participating in the work.
The organisers expressed gratitude to the Lighthouse NECTAR project, volunteers, community leaders, church members, and workers who contributed their time and resources. They added that the service has not only restored safer travel for residents during the monsoon season but has also strengthened the bonds of cooperation within the community.
Additionally, the volunteers and the Lighthouse NECTAR team also took the initiative to repair the roads from the high school to the town junction.
