DIMAPUR — The Chang Wedoshi Setshang (Chang Students' Conference) conducted a two-day inspection on June 24 and 25 across all government-established institutions within the jurisdiction of Tuensang.
A press release issued by Chang Wedoshi Setshang (CSU) mentioned that during the course of the inspection, several irregularities were found in the functioning of various offices.
It was alleged that numerous Grade III and Grade IV staff members were absent from their official duties without valid justification for indefinite periods.
Stating that it was also observed that the prolonged absence of heads of departments (HoDs) has led to a breakdown in discipline, CSU alleged that many employees have taken undue advantage of this situation by proceeding on leave without proper authorisation and later forging their signatures in the attendance register upon returning to duty.

It said that, notably, due to the absence of the HoD, staff from the account section had to travel to Kohima and Dimapur to obtain the required signatures for bill processing.
According to CSU, the inspection revealed that certain employees have been drawing monthly salaries despite not attending the office or performing any official responsibilities, which constitutes gross negligence of duty, misuse of public funds, and a serious breach of the ethical standards expected of public servants.
Stating that the conference takes a serious and uncompromising stance against such malpractices, CSU released a list and directed employees from various departments to report to their respective postings within seven days.
The list includes staff from twelve departments covering positions such as DO, supervisors, LDA, ACO, field investigators, bill assistants, MTS, typists, sweepers, chainmen, drivers, and mechanics.
It said that failure to comply within the stipulated time frame shall invite disciplinary measures as deemed fit, as per Resolution No. 27 of the conference.
Furthermore, all departments and government institutions under Tuensang district have been instructed to maintain a monthly attendance register, which must be duly verified and signed by the respective HoD.
All employees have also been directed to strictly adhere to office hours and maintain punctuality and discipline at all times. In the event of any grievances faced by the general public, the aggrieved individuals have been advised to report directly to the CSU office at any time.
