DIMAPUR — The Chakhroma Youth Organisation (CYO) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Maova Village Council (MVC), demanding that those involved in an alleged violent attack on Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) leaders be produced for clarification and settlement.
In a notice addressed to the MVC chairman, the CYO stated that the CPO president and colleagues were subjected to a planned and premeditated attack on February 13 while visiting Maova village in “good faith” to hold a peaceful dialogue.
The attackers allegedly used catapults, stones and other projectiles, resulting in grievous injuries to CPO leaders and volunteers.

Terming the incident “unacceptable,” the organisation stated that the act posed a serious threat to peace and harmony among neighbouring communities.
Accordingly, the youth organisation directed the MVC chairman to appear in person along with Seiboi Changsan, a GB, and the individuals responsible for the violence at the CPO Hall in Chümoukedima for “necessary clarification and settlement.”

The organisation maintained that the directive must be complied with within seven days, by February 23, failing which the CYO would be compelled to take “appropriate decisions and actions” under Angami customary law and established resolutions.
The CYO further warned that any consequences arising from non-compliance would be the sole responsibility of the MVC chairman and the named GB, holding them accountable for the alleged act of violence against CPO leaders.
