Chakhesang Youth Front urges Nagaland government to resolve the CCYO-Forest Department impasse over Vezhoto Hesuh’s detention.
DIMAPUR — The Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) has urged the Government of Nagaland to intervene urgently in the ongoing impasse between the Centre Chakhesang Youth Organisation (CCYO) and the Forest Department over the alleged arbitrary detention of Vezhoto Hesuh by the Wildlife Crime Control Unit (WCCU), Dimapur.
In a press release, the CYF expressed disappointment over what it described as a lack of seriousness and commitment on the part of the department to resolve the issue in a logical and acceptable manner. The front stated that it had been closely monitoring the developments and efforts to resolve the matter.
The CYF stressed that the issue required urgent attention, taking into account the special constitutional safeguards guaranteed to Nagaland under Article 371A of the Constitution of India, particularly concerning Naga customary practices, traditions, and the ownership and transfer of land and its resources.
It maintained that the concerns raised by the Chakhesang community deserved justice and called for the matter to be addressed through transparency, mutual respect, and a clear understanding of the constitutional and customary issues involved.

The front also urged the state government to ensure a fair and impartial examination of the circumstances surrounding the alleged arbitrary detention of Hesuh, in accordance with the rule of law and the principles of natural justice.
Warning that a prolonged impasse could deepen mistrust and widen the gap between the public and the government, the CYF emphasised the need for an early and constructive resolution in the interest of peace, mutual understanding, and harmonious relations.
The CYF expressed hope that the state government would act promptly and responsibly to bring the matter to a just and amicable conclusion.
It further cautioned that if the issue remained unresolved and no reasonable conclusion was reached at the earliest, the Front would have no option but to intervene and pursue its democratic rights. It added that the government would be held solely responsible for any untoward incidents arising from the situation.
