KOHIMA — Ahead of the Chakhesang Wrestling Association’s (CWA) 3rd Senior and 2nd U-15 Open Naga Traditional Wrestling Championship, scheduled to be held on November 7 at the Pfutsero Sports Complex under the aegis of the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA), the CWA has made an appeal to the deputy commissioner (DC) of Phek.
The association urged the DC to direct the concerned contractors, the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), and relevant departments to repair and clear key road stretches leading to Pfutsero.
In a letter addressed to the DC Phek, CWA President Vezohu Ruho and General Secretary Kukhoto Venyo requested immediate action to repair the routes—Sakhabama–Kikrüma–Pfutsero, Chetheba–Phüsachodu–Pfutsero, Pfutsero–Sakraba–Phek, and Pfutsero–Chizami–Lanye road stretches—citing their deplorable conditions.

The upcoming championship will feature the Minister for Rural Development and State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Metsubo Jamir, as the special guest, and the Tourism Director, Veyielo Doulo, as the guest of honour.
The association stated that the championship will not be limited to Chakhesang wrestlers alone but will also feature participants from within and outside Nagaland, with several wrestlers from other tribes expected to compete for the coveted title.
The CWA expressed optimism that the district administration would intervene promptly to ensure smooth travel for commuters and participants during the event and beyond.
