Chakhesang and Khiamniungan tribes clinched men’s and women’s tug-of-war titles at the 26th Hornbill Festival in Kisama.

KISAMA — The Chakhesang and Khiamniungan tribes claimed the top honours in the men’s and women’s categories respectively in the tug-of-war competition held on Friday as part of the ongoing 26th Hornbill Festival at Kisama.
Organised by the department of Youth Resources and Sports, the event drew strong participation from various Naga tribes and attracted a large crowd at the Unity Plaza in the festival’s main arena.
In the men’s category, the Chakhesang team emerged champions and received INR 30,000. The Khiamniungan team finished second and was awarded INR 20,000, while the Angami team secured third place and received INR 15,000.

In the women’s category, the Khiamniungan team took the winner’s title along with a cash prize of INR 30,000. The Yimkhiung team came in second and received INR 20,000, while the Chakhesang team placed third and was awarded INR 15,000.
Prizes were handed over by Nyuvitho Nyuthe, Deputy Director of Youth Resources and Sports, Government of Nagaland.
