Chakhesang Community Diezephe celebrates Sȕkrȕnye festival along with wrestling meet.

DIMAPUR — The Chakhesang Community Diezephe (CCD) organised the Sȕkrȕnye festival along with a wrestling meet on January 15 with great enthusiasm and traditional fervour at Diezephe village, Chümoukedima district.
In a statement, the CCD informed that the event was attended by Vezota Khusoh, team member of Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA) as the honoured guest.
The programme began with an invocation prayer pronounced by Poseruh Lohe, Pastor of AGCD.
This was followed by a welcome address delivered by Mhaseo Dozo, chairman of CCD, who highlighted the cultural and spiritual significance of the Sȕkrȕnye festival as a time of thanksgiving, unity, and renewal within the Chakhesang community.
Yekronu Lupu, the oldest member of CCD, pronounced act of blessing, symbolising respect for elders and continuity of tradition.
The cultural segment featured folk songs by Nukudulȕ Medeo and Kese Tsory, adding colour and cultural richness to the celebration.

The wrestling meet, a major attraction of the day, was conducted in two categories — senior category and under-15 years junior category — drawing keen participation and spectatorship.
In the senior category, Rukubilhü Nyekha secured the first position, followed by Vesata Medeo in second place and Hukhoneyi Sazo in third place.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Vezoto Chȕzho vice-president of CCD, followed by a closing prayer offered by Leluthi Tsory, pastor of Chakhesang Baptist Church Diezephe.
The celebration ended with the traditional Sȕkrȕnye Feast, fostering fellowship and communal harmony.
