Council on the occasion of Thsükhenye celebration at Dimapur Government College
on Saturday.
- DIMAPUR — For the
first time, the Dimapur Chakhesang Council (DCC) organised a social
gathering-cum-Thsükhenye celebration festival at Dimapur Government College’s
auditorium on Saturday on the theme “Embracing unity, progress and cultural
values.”
- Delivering the welcome addressed, chairman of DCC, Kewengulo
Kapfo, said that each one of them must reflect on how much they have been
practicing and embracing their culture and tradition. Cautioning that there is
a danger of losing their culture altogether by the next generation, he called
upon the members to revive their cultural identity before it's too late.
- He also encouraged the members to leave aside from what
village/ clan they have come and unite under the common banner of
"Chakhesang" and inspire one another to develop their culture and
tradition.
- Speaking on the significance of Thsükhenye, the DCC advisor
Mikha Lomi said that the festival of Thsükhenye is observed in the month of
April (Thsükhenye Thrü) every year.

merry-making programmes, which is marked by playing traditional games such as

- He explained that all these activities would be banned/
prohibited after the celebration of Thsükhenye till the practices are re-opened
again in the month of November (Boule Thrü).
