  • DIMAPUR — The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, is all set to launch the Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA), a flagship agricultural outreach campaign, from May 29 to June 12.

  • The transformative initiative in Nagaland would be led by the National Research Centre on Mithun (NRC Mithun), ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, and College of Veterinary Sciences (CVSc) Jalukie, in close coordination with the state’s 11 Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and supported by various line departments.

  • The campaign would cover 11 districts of Nagaland namely Dimapur, Kohima, Mokokchung, Mon, Peren, Phek, Tuensang, Wokha, Zunheboto, Longleng and Kiphire.

  • An update from NRC Mithun stated that those institutions have mobilised multidisciplinary teams composed of scientists, technical experts and field staff to bring advanced agricultural technologies and climate-resilient practices directly to farming communities across the state.

  • The campaign would be conducted around several critical themes including soil health awareness and nutrient management, climate-resilient agricultural practices, integrated farming systems (crop-livestock-fishery), organic waste management through vermicomposting and demonstrations of agri-drones for precision agriculture.

  • It added that specific on-ground activities would include soil sample collection and distribution of soil health cards, on-site farmer training, demonstrations of low-cost technologies, interactive sessions with experts, awareness drives on government schemes, input demonstrations and exposure visits.

  • Each team has been tasked with covering multiple villages per district and directly engaging with at least 150 farmers per village, ensuring broad and meaningful outreach.

  • With detailed logistics planning, including designated vehicle support and route mapping, VKSA ensured comprehensive village-level coverage even in remote and hilly terrains.

  • It further stated that by integrating modern science with grassroots delivery, the initiative aims not only to boost agricultural productivity and income but also to build resilience against climate change, improve sustainability and empower Nagaland’s rural farming communities with knowledge, tools and institutional support.
