The Centre has released INR157.57 crore to Nagaland under Ayushman Bharat since 2018, with 11 Block Public Health Units and one Critical Care Block approved under PM-ABHIM.
KOHIMA — The Centre has disbursed a total of INR157.57 crore to Nagaland under the Ayushman Bharat–Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) since the scheme's inception in 2018 up to the financial year 2026-27.
During the financial year 2025-26, the Centre released INR 25.54 crore to the state, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare JP Nadda informed the Lok Sabha on Friday while replying to a series of starred questions on health infrastructure and healthcare facilities.
Under the Pradhan Mantri–Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), the Centre has released a total of INR 8.08 crore to Nagaland since the launch of the mission.
Providing a financial year-wise breakup, Nadda said the Centre released INR 0.28 crore in 2021-22, with no expenditure reported during the year. In 2022-23, the Centre released INR 0.08 crore, while expenditure remained nil.
In 2023-24, the central release stood at INR4.42 crore, against an expenditure of INR 0.60 crore. No central funds were released in 2024-25, although expenditure amounted to INR1.71 crore.
During 2025-26, the Centre released INR3.30 crore, while expenditure reached INR 6.57 crore.
The minister clarified that the figures relate only to central government grants and do not include the state's share of contribution.
He added that the expenditure includes spending from central releases, state releases and unspent balances carried forward from previous years. The expenditure figures are provisional and based on Financial Monitoring Reports (FMRs) submitted by the state.
Under PM-ABHIM, the Centre has also approved 11 Block Public Health Units (BPHUs) for Nagaland.
Of these, two have become functional while work on the remaining nine is in progress. One Critical Care Block (CCB) has also been approved, with construction currently underway.
Nationally, administrative approval has been accorded to all states and union territories for the construction, strengthening and establishment of 2,151 Block Public Health Units, 744 Integrated Public Health Laboratories (IPHLs) and 631 Critical Care Blocks under the mission.
Nadda further informed that 0.51 lakh Ayushman cards were created in Nagaland during 2025-26, while 0.32 lakh hospital admissions were authorised under the scheme during the same period.
At the national level, as of July 31, 2026, a total of 2,359 hospitals had been de-empanelled and 1,200 hospitals suspended by states and union territories for violations of the scheme guidelines.
In addition, 29 FIRs had been registered and penalties amounting to INR 328.49 crore imposed, the minister said.
