The Centre Chakhesang Youth Organisation begins the second phase of its indefinite agitation, picketing three forest offices in Phek district over unmet demands

DIMAPUR — The Centre Chakhesang Youth Organisation (CCYO) on Monday began the second phase of its indefinite agitation, picketing three Forest department offices in Phek district after its demands remained unmet despite an ultimatum to the chief minister.
The peaceful picketing was held at the Pfutsero Range Office, Phek Range Office and Phek Forest Office as part of the organisation’s non-cooperation movement, according to a statement issued by the youth body.
The organisation had submitted a three-point charter of demands to the chief minister, setting a deadline for the government to respond. It stated that the second phase was launched after the deadline passed without satisfactory action.

The agitation began at midnight on October 5, when the CCYO announced the lifting of its ban on hunting as the first phase of its non-cooperation movement. It moved to picketing on Monday, the statement said.
The CCYO described the picketing as peaceful and disciplined and urged the government to acknowledge its demands, initiate dialogue with its representatives and take concrete steps to resolve the issues.
It also appealed to its members and the public to maintain peace and uphold democratic principles during the agitation.
The organisation said it would continue the movement until its demands received due consideration and an appropriate response from the government.
