DIMAPUR — Training programmes for supervisors and enumerators for the upcoming Census 2027 have commenced and are scheduled across multiple districts in Nagaland.
Kohima: Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kohima B Henok Buchem visited the ongoing Census of India 2027 training programmes being conducted at three venues within the DC Office Complex in Kohima on Wednesday.
According to a DIPR report, interacting with the trainees, Buchem described participation in the census operation as a historic responsibility and a privilege, noting that enumerators serve as the frontline workforce.
He assured the trainees of full support, noting that census work is a team effort, and urged them to ensure the collected data is precise and reliable for policy formulation and development planning.
Kiphire: In Kiphire, the first phase of training commenced at the DPDB Conference Hall on Wednesday and will continue until June 12.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire, Longdiba L Sangtam, spoke on the value of the census, urging enumerators and supervisors to be sincere.
Charge officers of Kiphire, Longmatra, and Amahator blocks also addressed the participants. Field trainers for the sessions included Hotingkiu, Daniel Sechopi, Akuto, and Asemong.
Chümoukedima: The first phase of training for enumerators and supervisors commenced on Wednesday at the DC's Office in Chümoukedima.
Around 150 participants from across all subdivisions under the Chümoukedima district attended the programme, which orientated them on census concepts, house-listing procedures, data collection methodologies, field protocols, and the use of prescribed schedules.
Tuensang: In Tuensang, training for the Ngoungchung Circle and Sangsangyu Circle was held on Wednesday at the DC's conference hall.
DC Tuensang Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa highlighted the importance of the census and exhorted the trainees to work with sincerity and dedication. The training in Tuensang will cover eight batches, involving a total of 347 enumerators and supervisors.
Shamator: A six-day intensive training programme for Census 2027 commenced at the Shamator district headquarters on June 8.
The training, which will conclude on June 13, aims to equip the field workforce for the national census. DC Shamator, Arikumba, highlighted the critical importance of accurate data collection for future developmental planning.
A total of 165 trainees, comprising 25 supervisors and 140 enumerators, are participating.
Dimapur: In Dimapur, the training for supervisors and enumerators under Phase I will be conducted in phases at the Livingstone Foundation College of Nursing.
According to a circular issued by DC and Principal Census Officer of Dimapur Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, the training will cover personnel from Dimapur Sadar, Dimapur Municipal, and East Dimapur.
Phase I training, comprising four batches, is scheduled from June 11 to the 13th, while Phase II training, also consisting of four batches, will take place from June 15 to the 17th. The sessions will run daily from 9:30 am to 6 pm.
