IMPHAL — More than 40 private hospitals under the Association of Healthcare Providers India (AHPI), Manipur State Chapter, have announced that treatment of CMHT (Chief Ministergi Hakselgi Tengbang) and PMJAY (Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana) cardholders will be charged from November 6 if pending government dues under these schemes are not cleared.
AHPI Manipur State Chapter president Dr. Khundongbam Palin said on Tuesday that 43 private hospitals and diagnostic centres are affiliated with the state chapter, and both CMHT and PMJAY schemes are applicable in all these hospitals.
However, government payments to these hospitals have been delayed for a long time, causing financial difficulties. The matter was previously raised with the Chief Minister and Health Minister under the elected government, and after the imposition of President’s Rule, it was brought before the Governor on April 16, 2025, he added.
With such long-pending dues, private hospitals are struggling to pay staff salaries. In August, AHPI Manipur had announced it could no longer continue cashless treatment under the PMJAY scheme due to financial distress, but later resumed services following assurances from the state government.
