DIMAPUR — The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Nagaland has announced that it will be organising a marathon on September 20 as part of the 16-day celebration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday.
The series of activities under Sewa Pakhwada 2025 will run from September 17 to October 2 across the state, covering state, district, and mandal levels.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday at the BJP Dimapur District Office, BJYM state president Khekato Awomi said that the marathon will be held on the theme ‘War against drugs.’

The initiative seeks to promote fitness, engage the youth, and raise awareness on drug abuse, which has emerged as a growing concern in Nagaland.
The “Modi Yuva Marathon” is expected to attract over 3,000 participants. The run will start from Thahekhu village ground, pass through Dhobinala, Clock Tower, and conclude at DDSC Stadium. Local athletes and sportspersons will also be engaged as campaign ambassadors.

Organisers clarified that there will be no age restrictions for participation. Online websites registration will be launched soon and all participants will be given certificates and winners awarded prizes.
Highlighting the significance of the event, BJYM General Secretary Likao Odyuo said the initiative reflects Modi’s commitment to youth welfare and empowerment. He also referred to government initiatives such as the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction and the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme, aimed at tackling substance abuse and promoting skills and sports among the youth.
BJYM Nagaland appealed to students, athletes, and young people across the state to take part in the marathon, making it a collective movement for a healthier and drug-free future.
