KOHIMA — The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Kohima district unit has appealed to the citizens of India to participate in the implementation of 33% women's reservation and urged opposition leaders “to refrain from obstructing the Act.
This was shared during a press conference addressed by the Kohima district BJP unit, led by Vineizo Tsiirho, State Executive Member; Khrielie Üsou, President of the BJP Kohima district; Leanne Kiewhuo, President of Mahila Morcha Kohima district; and others at the BJP head office in Kohima on Wednesday.
The leaders asserted that they were compelled to hold the press conference to clarify issues regarding women's reservation and delimitation to the people, as the opposition party had created confusion and made misleading statements
They accused the Congress and its allies of a conspiracy to keep women away from the parliament and state assemblies for decades, which they claimed was once again exposed.

They also stated that the opposition is ignoring the fact that the implementation of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam is directly linked to delimitation, and any delay in delimitation will delay the benefits of reservation for women.
According to the leaders, the “INDI alliance” is spreading completely false narratives, and opposing the bills is effectively an attempt to block women from getting their rightful due.
They opined that there are many issues that women can tackle better than men, without undermining men. They added that having more women representatives in parliament will help bring more clarity to women's issues, stating that this is not the time to create division but to come together and strengthen the democratic framework of the country.
They stated that even the grassroots level has to understand why the bill was not passed and why delimitation is necessary, lamenting that it was a big setback for the people of India as the bill could not be passed.
