Bishnupur DC chairs security meeting to ensure safe harvesting in fringe areas and early rehabilitation of IDPs.

IMPHAL — Deputy Commissioner Pooja Elangbam of Bishnupur district on Friday chaired a security meeting aimed at ensuring the smooth conduct of harvesting activities in fringe areas and the early rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at the district headquarters, 30 km south of Imphal.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including SP in charge Th. Shangkar Deba, Additional District Magistrate Toijam Opendro, commanding officers and representatives of central forces, Sub-Divisional Officers, Officer-in-Charges, and other concerned personnel.
DC Elangbam stressed the need for close coordination among all security agencies to ensure that the ongoing harvesting season proceeds without untoward incidents. She urged officers to perform their duties with dedication and extend maximum assistance to the public for safe crop collection.

“After detailed discussions, it was decided that harvesting in fringe areas will be conducted from 6.30 am to 4 pm to ensure adequate security coverage during these hours,” said the District Information Officer in a press release. The DC further urged farmers to strictly adhere to the scheduled timings.
SP in charge highlighted areas requiring enhanced security deployment and emphasised proper planning to maintain safety throughout the harvesting season.
Reports from security officials indicate that harvesting has already begun peacefully in some fringe areas and is expected to be completed across the district by the end of November.
DC Elangbam also sought collective cooperation for the early rehabilitation of IDPs, noting that feasible locations for relocation have been identified. Security forces assured full assistance in the process.
Appealing to all stakeholders, DC Pooja Elangbam urged unity and collaboration for a safer, more peaceful district and state.
