The Bhandari SDPDB focuses on the lack of a Senior Medical Officer at Bhandari CHC and requests a power supply upgrade for the Yanmhon area.
DIMAPUR — The Bhandari Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board (SDPDB) held its meeting at the conference hall of the Summer House-cum-Guest House in Bhandari on Wednesday.
According to a DIPR report, the board reiterated the urgent need for a senior medical officer (SMO) at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Bhandari and resolved to pursue the matter with the concerned department.
Highlighting the present status of the health centre, Medical Officer Dr. Lydia apprised the board that the facility is functioning without an SMO as no replacement has been posted for the transferred officer. She added that the centre faces a shortage of staff and requires a gynaecologist to serve women from across the sub-division.
Dr. Lydia also informed that a sensitisation programme on vector-borne diseases was recently held under the National Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme, with no active vector-borne disease cases reported in the sub-division.

During the meeting, the President of the Yanmhon Area Public Organisation (YAPO), N Thungdemo Tungoe, submitted a representation requesting the upgradation of the existing 11KV power supply to 33KV. He cited that due to insufficient capacity, 20 villages under the Yanmhon area face excessive load shedding and power cuts, which disrupt households, education, farming, and essential business activities.
In response, Additional Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman of the SDPDB Longasen Lotha directed officials to prepare a rationalisation and feasibility report for presentation at the next meeting to take the matter forward.
