MOKOKCHUNG — The Basketball Association Mokokchung District (BAMD) has launched a coaching clinic and scouting programme to nurture grassroots basketball talent, aiming to form dedicated junior boys’ and girls’ teams for state and national tournaments.
Following the success of the 1st Inter High School and Higher Secondary School Annual Basketball Tournament, the BAMD’s scouting committee has shortlisted 24 boys and 14 girls based on their skill, potential, and sportsmanship.
BAMD informed that the list of selected players has been formally communicated to their respective schools, with a request for full cooperation and support to ensure their attendance in the upcoming training session.

The initiative, starting August 2, at 6 am at the BAMD Basketball Court, Imkongmeren Sports Complex, will run on non-working Saturdays through the Durga Puja holidays to avoid academic disruptions.
BAMD stated that the clinic aims to prepare players for competitive exposure in state tournaments and, crucially, events beyond Nagaland, emphasising the importance of national-level experience for player development.
The BAMD president highlighted the programme as a long-term investment in grassroots basketball, urging selected players to approach the training with dedication and discipline.
“This clinic is the foundation for building strong junior teams to represent Mokokchung,” he said, noting that schools and parents play a vital role in its success.
