DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner of Kohima B Henok Buchem has issued an order to strengthen the regulation and monitoring of commercial Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) distribution across the district.
As per the order, all LPG distributor agencies in Kohima district must submit detailed and periodic records of commercial LPG cylinder sales and supplies, including those made to medical and educational institutions.
According to a DIPR report, the directive, issued under the Essential Commodities Act of 1955 and the LPG (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order of 2000, aims to ensure transparency, prevent diversion and misuse, and secure equitable distribution of LPG at fair prices.

Distributors have also been instructed to supply commercial LPG cylinders to hotels, restaurants, and other establishments only upon production of a valid authorisation issued by the office of the deputy commissioner.
The order further mandates the maintenance of proper stock registers and transaction records, which must be produced for inspection by the District LPG Monitoring Committee or authorised officials.
Regular inspections will be carried out by the monitoring committee along with enforcement agencies to ensure compliance.
Buchem warned that any violation of the order will invite strict penal action under Section 7 of the Essential Commodities Act, including imprisonment, fines, seizure of stock, and suspension or cancellation of licences.
The order has come into immediate effect and will remain in force until further notice, with the administration urging all stakeholders to adhere strictly in the interest of public welfare and transparency.
