DIMAPUR — An awareness programme under Mera Resham Mera Abhiman (MRMA) was conducted at Tenyiphe-II, Chümoukedima, on Thursday, with the objective of sensitising farmers on the importance of rearing house disinfection and hygiene in sericulture.
According to an update, the programme was attended by Mayangjal Walling, district sericulture officer; Dr. Anil Kumar ST, scientist-B; and Pete Medoni, supervisor and farm in charge.
On the occasion, Dr. Kumar emphasised the crucial role of hygiene and disinfection in preventing diseases in silkworm rearing houses. He advised farmers to use disinfectants properly and follow recommended protocols to ensure healthy rearing practices and better cocoon production.

Walling also addressed the farmers, urging them to adopt systematic hygiene measures and follow scientific practices for sustainable sericulture. She highlighted that maintaining cleanliness in rearing houses is a simple yet effective step towards disease management and higher profitability.
The event witnessed participation from local eri farmers, who interacted with the experts and gained practical insights into improving their rearing practices.
