DIMAPUR — The GPRN/NNC (AB) has issued a rejoinder following reports of an “emergency meeting” by some members announcing the termination of President SS Pongkhu Naga.

In the statement, the group reaffirmed its stability under Pongkhu and General Secretary V Yepthomi. The president further claimed that Kitoho was merely a home kilonser and that holding the position of kilonser does not confer constitutional (Yehzabo) authority to terminate the supreme leadership of the party.

He further stated that such claims lack logic and legitimacy and that there is no authority under Yehzabo to dissolve or terminate the supreme leadership, making such claims illegitimate and baseless.

Pongkhu also implied that Kitoho had aligned himself with an individual regarded by the party as irrelevant, and therefore, he has no authority to speak or act in the name of the GPRN/NNC (AB).

The president affirmed that no individual or group can destabilise or weaken the government. He stated that the party is functioning smoothly and will continue to do so. He also directed all establishments and marketplaces, whether in Kohima, Dimapur, Chümoukedima, or Niuland districts, not to entertain anyone claiming to represent GPRN/NNC (AB) without the knowledge and approval of the general secretary.

Yepthomi contended that the allegations made by Kitoho, who himself left the party and made false allegations against the president and the chief of the army of corruption, moral misconduct, and arbitrary actions, are baseless, fabricated, and meant only to tarnish the image of the government.

Further, the statement said that all regional councils strongly condemn Kitoho’s actions and declare that no person will be allowed to misuse the name of the GPRN/NNC (AB), and if found doing so, serious action will be taken.

Further, the MIP, in a separate statement, said that the so-called “emergency meeting” and its so-called “resolution” hold no legitimacy and were convened without the knowledge, authority, or mandate of the party.

It said that this is nothing more than an attempt by a few individuals, led by Francis Kikon, to take somebody’s position or power without having the rights to do so through backdoor politics and to mislead the public.

Further, it was stated that the allegations of corruption, moral misconduct, and arbitrary actions are baseless, fabricated, and meant only to tarnish his image. The “termination” of leadership is unconstitutional, unauthorised, and null and void.

It was also stated that there is no such person enrolled in the government. Claims of 37 members emerging with Kikon, apart from Kitoho and Loketo, are baseless propaganda intended to mislead the public.

It added that this malicious attempt to dissolve the established leadership will not succeed and that any individual or group misusing the name of GPRN/NNC (AB) without the approval of the president will be solely responsible for the consequences.
