Niuland administration and SANKALP organise awareness programme on preventing gender-based violence.

DIMAPUR — The district administration of Niuland, in collaboration with the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (SANKALP) and One Stop Centre (Sakhi), organised a programme on ‘16 Days of Gender-Based Violence Activism’ at Tribal Hostel NDO Nikhekhu, Niuland, on December 2.
According to an update, the event aimed to raise awareness on preventing gender-based violence and to promote safer, more respectful environments for women and children.

A session on ‘Respecting boundaries and teaching good and bad touch’ was delivered by Nitokali I Awomi, psychosocial counsellor, One Stop Centre (OSC). She emphasised early education, open communication, and community vigilance as essential tools in ensuring children’s safety and empowerment.
SDO (Civil) Niuland, Avonuo Kire, highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in ending gender-based violence.
