- DIMAPUR — An
awareness and sensitisation programme on the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act,
2006, was successfully conducted by the District Hub for Empowerment of Women
(DHEW), operating under the Mission Shakti and Social Welfare Department, in
collaboration with the Legal Aid Clinic, Shamator, on May 14 at the Cultural
Hall, Shamator.
- The event aimed to educate the local community,
stakeholders, and youth on the legal, social, and psychological impacts of
child marriage and to promote a collective stand against this social issue,
stated a DIPR report.

- Tsurito, a paralegal volunteer from the Legal Aid Clinic;
ASHA workers; school authorities; self-help groups; and students from Christian
High School and St. Xavier Higher Secondary School participated in the
programme.
- The gender specialist from DHEW, Kampenla, and the case
worker from the District Child Protection Unit, Neotola, spoke about the Women
Helpline 181 and the Child Helpline 1098, respectively.
