- DIMAPUR — The
Pughoboto Sub-District Industries Centre (SDIC) organised a one-day awareness
programme on Startup Nagaland on Thursday at the Government Higher Secondary
School, Pughoboto, with the participation of students, teachers and government
officials.
- Speaking at the programme, the additional deputy
commissioner (ADC) of Pughoboto, Tiameren Chang, lauded the initiative of the
state government in promoting a startup ecosystem across the state. He stressed
the need for local stakeholders to collaborate and support young innovators and
business aspirants.
- A DIPR report stated that a presentation was made by the
SDIC functional manager (FM), Hekato K Jimo, who introduced the Startup
Nagaland initiative and elaborated on the Nagaland Start-up Policy 2019–2023.
He outlined the state’s vision to foster a vibrant startup culture by providing
knowledge exchange, capacity building and policy support, along with access to
funding for budding entrepreneurs.

- He also explained that the Department of Industries and
Commerce serves as the nodal agency to implement the policy with the
overarching goal of positioning Nagaland as a model startup leader in the
region. He stated that the policy aims to inspire the youth to become job
creators rather than job seekers, thereby contributing to a more sustainable
and innovation-driven economy.
- Delivering the welcome address, the SDPO of Pughoboto,
Hankiumong, emphasised the importance of encouraging entrepreneurship among the
youth in rural and semi-urban areas.
- The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by
Yesheli Achumi, LDA at SDIC Pughoboto.
- Report stated that the awareness programme reflected the
growing momentum for entrepreneurship in Nagaland and the efforts of local
institutions to bridge the gap between policy and grassroots implementation.
