KIPHIRE — Atsikeh Trust launched Saukhayam pads, an eco-friendly menstrual hygiene product made from banana fibre, in Kiphire on Tuesday. This is the first initiative of its kind in Northeast India and Nagaland.
The launch programme was held at the Atsikeh Trust office in Kiphire. The event was officially inaugurated by Mercy Epao, Central Prabhari Officer, ADP/ABP Kiphire, and Joint Secretary, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India.
The deputy commissioner of Kiphire also attended the event.
Speaking at the event, Mercy Epao appreciated Atsikeh Trust for promoting natural and sustainable products. She highlighted the importance of addressing menstrual hygiene, especially in rural areas, and encouraged such initiatives that support women’s health and dignity.
A documentary film was also screened to showcase Saukhayam pads. The pads are eco-friendly, affordable, reusable, and safe for women’s health.
They are designed to be used for four to five years, helping reduce waste and supporting a zero-waste lifestyle.
