ATMA Longleng organised a series of farmer-orientated training and exhibition programmes.
DIMAPUR — The Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Longleng, organised a series of farmer-orientated programmes in collaboration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)–Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Longleng, the Department of Agriculture, and allied departments from August 3 to the 15th.
According to a press release, the initiatives included district-level farmers’ training, skill training of rural youth (STRY), a farmer-scientist interaction programme, joint field visits, a farmers' exhibition, and a Best Farmer Award programme.
The programmes were supported by technical experts and resource persons, including Shubhendhu Kumar, Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Pathology) at KVK Longleng; H Mhonthung Merry, Deputy Project Director, ATMA Longleng; and Lengoi Nemdakly, Assistant Technology Manager, ATMA Longleng.

The initiatives aimed to strengthen farmers’ technical knowledge, promote scientific and sustainable agricultural practices, facilitate interaction with experts, and provide a platform for farmers to showcase their agricultural produce and technologies.
As part of the programme, five progressive farmers were recognised for their outstanding contributions and achievements in agriculture and allied activities. The awardees were felicitated with cash awards and certificates of appreciation.
The programmes brought together farmers from 11 villages, scientists, technical experts, and officials from agriculture and allied departments to strengthen coordination, knowledge sharing, and convergence towards promoting sustainable and diversified agriculture in the district.
