ATMA Kuhuboto block inaugurates a Strawberry Farm School in Shitoi village to promote scientific cultivation methods.

DIMAPUR — A Strawberry Farm School was inaugurated at Shitoi village, Niuland, under the Kuhuboto block by the ATMA Kuhuboto block on April 22. The school aims to promote scientific strawberry cultivation and strengthen farmers’ capacity in the region.
Toli, a progressive farmer with four years of experience in strawberry cultivation, was appointed as the farm school teacher.
According to an update, she has demonstrated notable success, having sold 165 kg of strawberries during the 2025–26 season at INR 500 per kg, catering to markets in Dimapur and Chümoukedima.

The programme featured Dr. Aswini Ananda, scientist at the AICRP on Vegetable Crops, Nagaland University, as the resource person. He highlighted the importance of improved agronomic practices, including proper spacing, Integrated Pest Management, and Integrated Nutrient Management, to enhance productivity and quality.
The event was coordinated by Block Technology Manager Akavi Holo, along with Assistant Technology Managers Kaiho Achumi and Mlato Swu. Cash assistance and essential agricultural inputs were also provided to support the expansion and upgradation of the farm into a model demonstration unit.
The programme witnessed participation from local farmers, reflecting a growing interest in strawberry cultivation as a viable income-generating activity.
