
ATMA functionaries with farmers during the training on
bio-security and disease prevention in livestock farming at Longpa village on
April 12.
- DIMAPUR — Aimed at promoting sustainable
livestock farming, the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA),
Kobulong block, Mokokchung, conducted a training session on biosecurity and
disease prevention in livestock farming at Longpa village on April 12.
- According to an update, the resource persons for the
programme were Dr. Nemjemyanger, farm manager, State Cattle Breeding Farm,
Aliba.
- Speaking on the occasion, he underscored that effective
biosecurity practices are crucial for maintaining animal health and
productivity, stressing the key aspects of biosecurity: isolation and
segregation, restricting access to the farm for personnel, equipment, and
vehicles, implementing strict disinfection protocols, sanitation and hygiene,
and nutrition and feed management.
- Further, common diseases; vaccination and deworming; disease
reporting and outbreak management; and the economics of livestock farming were
deliberated. Later, there was an interaction between the resource person and
the farmers.
- At the end of the programme, dewormers provided by the
Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services were distributed to the
farmers. Altogether, 20 farmers, along with ATMA staff, attended the programme.
