ATMA Dhansiripar conducts training for farmers on promotion of natural farming practices.

DIMAPUR — Dhansiripar block of the Agricultural Technology Management Authority (ATMA), in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Dimapur, conducted training for farmers on “Promotion of natural farming practices” on May 21 in Khriezephe and Hazadisa villages.
An update stated that the programme was aimed at promoting sustainable and eco-friendly natural farming practices among the farming community.
In the technical sessions, resource persons namely Dr. Bendangla Imsong, CTO (plant breeding), and Lireni E Kikon, ACTO (plant protection), spoke on the importance of natural farming practices for sustainable agricultural development, soil health improvement, reducing cultivation costs and promoting chemical-free crop production. They highlighted key natural farming techniques including preparation and application of organic manures, composting methods, mulching, crop diversification and eco-friendly pest and disease management practices using locally available resources.

It stated that the farmers were encouraged to adopt low-cost and sustainable farming approaches to enhance productivity, while ensuring environmental conservation and long-term soil fertility.
It added that the programme provided an interactive platform for farmers to discuss field-level challenges and exchange experiences on agricultural practices.
The training concluded with active participation and positive feedback from the farmers, who have appreciated ATMA Dhansiripar block and KVK Dimapur for organising the informative and beneficial programme.
