DIMAPUR — In a joint operation, Assam Rifles and Nagaland Police intercepted a truck carrying a large consignment of illegal foreign-origin cigarettes worth INR 1.29 crore in Tening area of Peren district.
“This operation reflects the continuous efforts by both security forces and state police to curb the inflow of contraband into Nagaland, preventing loss of government revenue and protecting local markets and communities from the harmful effects of unchecked illegal trade,” a defence release stated.

“The cooperation and coordination between Assam Rifles and Nagaland Police were appreciated, highlighting joint efforts as a fine example of maintaining law and order while safeguarding people's interests.”
The seized consignment was handed over to concerned agencies for further investigation and necessary action, the release stated.
