Assam Rifles organised a commemorative bike rally in Kohima to mark the 27th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
DIMAPUR — Inspector General Assam Rifles (IGAR) North organised a commemorative bike rally on the 27th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas on Saturday to pay tribute to the courage, sacrifice, and commitment of the soldiers of the 1999 Indo-Pak Kargil War.
According to a press release, the rally was dedicated to Captain Neikezhakuo Kenguruse. It was mentioned that the officer displayed exceptional courage during the Kargil War and was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra, India's second-highest gallantry award.
The rally was flagged off by Governor of Nagaland Nand Kishore Yadav from the Assam Rifles Garrison Helipad in Kohima. Prior to the flag-off, the Governor felicitated the parents of Captain Kenguruse in recognition of their son's extraordinary sacrifice and service to the nation, in the presence of the IGAR North.
The rally witnessed participation from ex-servicemen; motorcycle clubs of Kohima, including The Tribe Motorcycle Club, Taho Bikers, Mods on Kohima, and Royal Sons Nagaland; and members of civil society. The event served to foster patriotism, strengthen national integration, and highlight the sacrifices made by the soldiers and their families.
The rally culminated at the Captain N Kenguruse, MVC (P) Memorial in Nerhema, Kohima district, where the participants were flagged in by the parents of Captain Kenguruse. A wreath-laying ceremony was held at the memorial, where serving personnel, veterans, local dignitaries, and participants paid homage.
The commemorative event concluded with an address highlighting the enduring legacy of the Kargil heroes and the values of courage, sacrifice, and selfless service. Mementos were presented to all participants in appreciation of their support and contribution.
